What a great album NS is for me. I''ve heard people say they don''t like this "cornpone" music...oh well, I love this collection and I highly recommend it. The songs are gentle and sweet, with a little laughter thrown in. Bob is the best for me, hands down, over all the rest. Not that I don''t like anyone else''s music, but it''s usually Bobby singing in my kitchen. So, come on down, grab a cuppa my famous joe (some call it INfamous, LOL) and we can set a spell and listen to some of the best music there is, Mr. Bobby D. Whichever is your favorite Bob Dylan album, chances are I''ve got it!

Lay Lady Lay was the big hit on this, but plenty of other memorable songs.
Wish it had been longer; it''s only about a half-hour in length, but that is nit-picking.
A classic.

Bob Dylan''s "Nashville Skyline" album - Remastered CD

Nashville Skyline represented a slight shift in both sound and style for Dylan. It was more orchestrated, if you can call the country sound of the day "orchestration". Dylan had appeared in the early episodes of the Johnny Cash Show on TV, and Dylan and Cash formed a friendship. They may have been friends before Dylan''s guest spot on the show, I don''t know; but Johnny Cash and June Carter-Cash were big Dylan fans. In this album, the first cut, "Girl From the North Country", Cash and Dylan do a duet. The harmony was atrocious, but it was fun to listen to, just the same; because you knew that it was two friends doing something fun together "for the record", if you''ll pardon the pun. One cut from this album, "Lay Lady Lay", got a lot of radio air time; I think because it represented a slightly different sound from Dylan from what we were accustomed to hearing--not a bad change, just different. Every cut on the album was good; definitely Dylan, with a bit of country flavor added. I had the vinyl LP that I bought the day of the album''s release. The remastered version is a CD quality remake of the original album. I enjoyed the LP, which was stolen along with my stereo, and I enjoy the CD just as much.

I ordered the CD through Amazon.com, from an affiliate, blowitoutahere.com, and it was shipped out of Shepherdsville, KY. It was a new, factory packaged CD, and arrived in excellent condition the day before the estimated delivery date. I was pleased with the purchasing process, service, delivery, and condition of the product.

Regarding sales, service, delivery, customer satisfaction, and the product itself, I give it a 5-star rating on all counts.

disliked by many at the time it came out: too country then, just as his early rock phase was too electric for the folksters. always, always his own best ear, his own true reflection on his dance with the world around him. this has so many good songs on it, ones that hearken back to the ''standards'' of earlier times, for their memorable melodies and lyrics--in my mind ''i threw it all away'' is better than the ''hit'' ''lay lady lay''. stars and icons like elvis and michael jackson don''t hold a candle to this man. he''s not everyone''s cup of tea--his voice is a chameleon, anywhere from rust to satin, but never velvet. still: oh, bobby! love to spend the night with bobby d.

I read a review about the remastered edition of this CD on Amazon while purchasing another I did Dylan CD for a gift . I am glad it was Dylan''s first foray to Nashville as I remember and it was certainly worth the price to have this remaster in my collection, it is very good. No Dylan fan should be without this, his work with Nashville''s musician''s reshaped his music, as much or more than his adaption of electric instruments a few years before.
A pleasant listen after many years, well worth the price, and to the younger fans of Dylan this will be an eye opener, as it was the start of his shifting gears through many types of music over the years.

This one''s been a long time comin'' to me as a CD. I played the vinyl grooves thru a long time ago. Summer of ''69. 18. Right.

What strikes me somewhat negatively is the sameness of the production, track to track, and the totally uninspired, loose riffing on the stringed instruments; plus lyrics which dance uncomfortably between novelty and actually tasteful Country-Pop.

The opener with Johnny Cash is a Classic, or a classic, but in this day of endless outtakes, I''ll take this tentative but warm and memorable entry. GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY is based upon a much earlier folk tune...somebody help? :)

LAY LADY LADY..what can I say? What a song for a Friday night date with a new girl...my Dad''s 1964 Caddy and the good fidelity on the speakers. "Oh, yeah, Dad, can I have three dollars for gas?". Beautifully executed; echo works.

I THREW IT ALL AWAY, another gem, and obvious candidate for any "Golden" BD collection.

Yes, Johnny Cash wrote the notes and they are wonderful. But I don''t know...look inside at the CD booklet and Cash''s not exactly approving gaze at the wonder-boy from Minnesota.

Tonight I''ll be spending time with Peggy Day and tomorrow night I''ll be alone with the Girl from the North Country having country pie.

Anything unreleased from this session?

The feel of this album is happy, up beat and old time country. Not typical Dylan. But Dylan to the core. The most popular songs on the album are "Lay Lady Lay" and "Girl from North Country" with Mr. Johnny Cash. But every single song on this CD is worth listening to multiple times.
What more can I say, Bob Dylan is the master of music and poetry.

I havnt heard this album for around 30 years, its never been in my Bob Dylan collection and now [having bought CD] I know why, its bland and lacking expression. It need''nt have been, especially as he had the great Johnny Cash with him [to set the country style] on the opening track, [ which also conveys the most emotion]. Later on the live ''Hard Rain'' album the song ''I thew it all away'' is sung with passion and dynamic delivery, with a band that can express the songs intent, now realised. Also the live version of ''Tonight I''ll Be Staying Here With You'' on ''Live 1975'', is sung with conviction, with a band that explores that songs emotion. The popular love song ''Lay lady lay'' is highly romantic, but one of this albums better tracks, apart from the opening ''Girl from the North Country''. Nashville Skyline is lightweight country and certainly not the great man at his best and in retrospect is more or less a demo with a couple of good songs.

One of his greatest albums, several classic songs including the opening duet with Johnny Cash. Its brevity is a lesson that many of todays artists with overlong and variable quality albums would do well to emulate!
